Brief Introduction of Valves

     Valve is a fluid pipeline control device, its basic function is to connect or cut off the flow of pipe medium , to change the flow direction of the medium, to adjust the medium pressure and flow, to protect the normal operation of pipeline equipment.

Industrial valve has a large number of applications which are used in the Watt’s steam invention. In recent 20 and 30 years, due to the need of oil, chemical, power plants, metallurgy, shipbuilding, nuclear, aerospace and other needs of the valve, it puts forward higher requirements to promote research. And the production of high-parameter valves, the operating temperature is from low temperature -269 ℃ to high temperature 1200 ℃, even up to 3430 ℃. Working pressure is from the ultra-vacuum 1.33x10-8Mpa (1x10-1 mmHg) to ultra-high pressure 1460MPa. Valve diameter is from 1mm to 600mm, even to 9750mm. The valve material develops from cast iron, carbon steel to titanium and titanium alloy, high-strength corrosion-resistant steel the manual ,the drive model of valve develops from manual to electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, program-controlled, numerical control, high-speed, low-cost, high-quality, remote control and so on.

       With the continuous development of modern industry, increasing demand of valves, a modern petrochemical equipment will need tens of thousands of various types of valves. Valves are used in large quantities. Frequent opening and shutting will drip, drain and leak, which is caused by improper manufacture, selection and maintenance. And this will result in explosion, poisoning, scalding accidents, or in poor product quality. Energy consumption increased, corrosion of equipment, material consumption increased, environmental pollution ,and even stop producing are common phenomenon. Therefore people need to get high-qualified valves, and at the same time they also require to enhance the use and maintenance level. This makes the valve operator, maintenance staff and engineers to have new requirements. Not only to well-designed, reasonable-choice, correct-operation, but also timely maintenance and repair, to make the accident of dripping ,draining and leakage to the minimum.
