Commonly used materials of Valve body

There are nine kinds of  the commonly used materials as follows:

1. Grey cast iron, is suitable for the low pressure valves of working temperature between -15~+200℃, PN≤1.6MPa.

 2 FCMB, is suitable for the medium and low pressure valves of working temperature between -15~+250℃, PN≤2.5MPa.

 3. Ductile iron, is suitable for the medium and low pressure valves of working temperature between -30~+350 ℃, PN≤4.0MPa.

 4.Carbon steel (WCA, WCB, WCC), is suitable for the medium and high pressure valves of working temperature between -29~+425℃. For the 16Mn and 30Mn of working temperature between-40~+450℃, are commonly used to replace ASTMA105.

5.Low temperature carbon steel (LCB), is suitable for the low temperature valves of working temperature between the -46~+345℃. 

6. Alloy steel (WC6, WC9), is suitable for non corrosive valves of high temperature and high pressure and between the temperature of -29~+595℃; WC5 and WC12 are suitable for corrosive valves of high temperature and high pressure between the temperature of  -29~+650 ℃. 

7. Austenitic stainless steel, is suitable for the corrosive valves of working temperature between -196~+600 ℃.  

8. Monel alloy, is mainly used in hydrogen fluoride medium valve. 

9. Cast copper alloy, is mainly used for oxygen pipeline valves between the working temperature of -273~+200℃.

The above list is the common materials of the valve body. Each type of materials has a lot of different grades. And  a variety of different grades are apply to a variety of different pressure levels. Therefore, in the selection of the valve body materials, should be based on different uses and different pressure levels, to determine the required operating conditions.

 In addition, there are other materials, such as titanium alloy(titanium valve), aluminum alloy (aluminum valve); plastic (plastic valve); ceramic (ceramic valve), and so on.
